

Kenneth Gordon Bonn, 87, passed away Saturday November 4, 2017 in Charlotte NC. He was in the company of his loving family and in the devoted care of hospice. Born September 27, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Wesley Bonn and Mildred Bonn. Following his graduation from Manhasset High School in 1948, Ken earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Hofstra College. He served in the Air Force from 1952 – 1954 and then began his long career in the New York area as a salesman at IBM, from which he retired in 1987.
In retirement Ken moved to the Carolinas and enjoyed playing tennis at River Hills in Lake Wylie, flying airplanes and sailplanes, collecting and building model cars and airplanes, reading, and doting over his favorite pet, Lucy. He is survived by his four children, Keith Bonn (Emily) of Bolton, CT, Dana Mitcheson (Mark) of Charlotte, NC, Elise Gilbert (Dan) of Armonk, NY and Dwight Bonn (Joyce) of Kingston, NY; and seven grandchildren, Geoff, Dale, Michael, Lauren, Landon, Wes and Wyatt and four great grandchildren Mason, Johnny, Kooper and Reese; as well as his brother, Robert Bonn of Raleigh, NC. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Huber.
A memorial to celebrate Ken’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 11th in McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC.
