

Mr. Sargent was born August 31, 1918, in Henryetta, OK. Mr. Sargent served in WWII, as a lieutenant, seeing action in Germany and France. Following WWII Mr. Sargent attended the University of Tennessee, graduating with honors. He was the founding executive of Transport Clearings East, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah Lee Sargent, and his second wife, Margaret Farris Sargent. He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Sargent Niedzialek and husband, Donald; Sally Sargent Baker and partner, Chip Baker; and Pamela Sargent Gearhart and husband, Brooks; stepdaughter, Fern Farris Brinkley; and stepson, John Farris and wife, Polly; seven grandchildren, Justin Niedzialek and wife, Susan; Ryan Niedzialek; English Baker Black and husband, James; Dax Baker; Lubin Baker and wife, Crystal; Alexa Gearhart; and Jacqueline Gearhart; six great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014, at 2p.m. at the Sharon Presbyterian Church, 5201 Sharon Road, in Charlotte. Reverend Ron E. Nelson will officiate. Interment will be in the Palm Tree Methodist Church Cemetery in Lawndale, NC.
