Mr. Kenneth H. Smith Sr.

Kenneth H. Smith, Sr. of Charlotte, son of the late David and Anna Smith, passed away the morning of June 24. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Ellen Smith and great grandson Carrigan Hunter. He is survived by his sisters, Juanita Windell and Emily Sutton (Carl); his three sons, Kenneth (Melanie), Leonard (Kathy) and Charles (Kathy); eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He graduated from Berryhill High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was very proud of his service in the Pacific aboard the Destroyer Escort USS Williams (DE-372). He enjoyed his garden and sharing his knowledge of gardening and produce with friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday July 1st in the Paul Helton chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Pastor Dan Griffin will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be held, at Covenant United Methodist Church, 6824 Tuckaseegee Road Charlotte, NC, after the interment.
