

Larry G. Earp of Charlotte, N.C. died February 24, 2026 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Larry was the son of Sidney and Helen Earp and was born in Gastonia, N.C. and spent his early childhood in Kings Mountain. Larry’s family later moved to Charlotte. Larry attended Harding High School where he played baseball and graduated from North Carolina State University. Larry was happily married to his devoted wife of 59 years, Carolyn Earp, and was a devoted husband and father.
Larry enjoyed baseball, hunting and fishing and established himself as one of the premier long range accuracy shooters in the country. Larry’s other passion was teaching Sunday School for many years as well as supporting the Billy Graham Foundation, Samaritan’s Purse and other Christian charities.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carolyn Earp, and eldest daughter, CMPD Sgt. Joy Elizabeth Earp and brother-in-law, Don Upton.
Larry’s surviving family includes his daughter, Kathleen G. Earp and fiancé Mike Esteves; son, Larry “Gordon” Earp Jr. and wife Patricia Aubry-Earp; grandson, Morgan Wesley Earp and wife, Kaitlyn Matthews Earp; and granddaughter, Army Staff Sgt. Kaitlyn Marie Earp. Larry is also survived by his two great grandchildren Blakeleigh and Weston. Also surviving are sister-in-law Jeannie Upton; nephews, Brian Upton and wife, Janelle along with Darren Upton and wife, Susanna and 5 great nieces and nephews.
