I just found out about Gale from Connie, I'm so sorry and sad.  We all loved each other in College, so many great memories! I hope God brings you both comfort and peace, Debbie and Curt.  This world lost a spectacular person!

I am Loss for words that this beautiful soul was taken to soon.   I know Gale has her angel wings. 
I meet Gale through her work and she was a huge support in helping my nefew settle into the proper program for his needs. Gale was always kind and had a huge smile on her face. So kind and patience.

It’s both shocking and sad to have lost such a wonderful soul. Gail was one of the first professionals I met while searching for services for my daughter back in the 1980s. We were thrilled when she  came back into our lives thru her role at DDR. And now we’re just sad. She will be missed and her memory will forever be a blessing to our family.

I was both shocked and saddened to hear of Gale's passing.  I first met her when I went to visit Jane Parke and JC.  Gale always greeted me with a smile and hug when I'd see her at First Christian.  She was such a warm, caring person and I feel blessed to have known her.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  I was so shocked and saddened to hear the news.  I remember when Gale worked at Baxter and I always enjoyed seeing her.  She was always so nice.  She was even my supervisor for several months.  I have been and will continue to be praying for you.

The first time I met Gale, she was working with a couple of individuals who she supported.  I was immediately blown away by how she interacted with them.  They spoke with each other like they were best friends and those individuals had no doubt that she loved and cared for them.  I am so thankful for the time that God gave me to spend with her.  There were countless times where she would call to check on me, encourage me, and be a listening ear when I needed to vent.  I really enjoyed the talks during Tarheel basketball games, especially when they were beating Duke!  I will always remember Gale as being a person who loved everyone, did all she could to make others’ lives better, and was a voice for those that could not speak up for themselves.  I will miss her hugs, smile and heart of gold.  

First, my sincerest condolences to all of Gale’s family and friends. It is unbelievable that this should have happened to my dear friend and your loved one, and my heart goes out to each and every one of you at this time. 

My heart is broken too. Gale became a special friend through my years in Charlotte, and one whose hugs I especially looked forward to every week at Church.   She was such a loving, kind, gentle person.  I will miss her terribly.  

But I know as sure as I am writing these words, that she is in her Momma’s loving arms in Heaven at this very moment and as much as there is tremendous sadness here at our deep loss, there is also great joy in their reunion.

In all the years that I have known Gale, she always greeted me, never by my name, but always by a term of endearment - “Sweetie, Honey,  or Baby."  Her smile and laughter would light up any room that she entered.  We bonded over West Virginia basketball and her love for Huggie Bear 😉 Gale has always shown me kindness and love, which will never be forgotten.  I am honored and blessed to have known her.  

To Deb, Curtis, and Darren - my heart is broken for you guys and I could never imagine the pain that you are feeling, but continue to lean on each other and find comfort in knowing that Gale is resting peacefully.  Her legacy will continue to live on in our hearts, our memories, and through the work that she was so passionate about.

Gale was one of the most genuine and loving friends who I had the pleasure of knowing from First Christian Church.  She always greeted me with a beautiful smile, positive words of encouragement, and an infectious laugh that brightened the room.  I always felt like she was channeling the words of her Mom, Ms. Jane Parke.  No matter what Gale was going through, she made me feel like I was the only person in the room.  Her compassion was always ever present and by far one of her most  beautiful attributes.  I am so sorry Deb, Curtis, and Aunt Judy.  My prayer for you is for peace as you go through this difficult time.  For me, I don't understand why this happened and for what purpose because she was such a wonderful person who gave back so much and to so many in this world.  I don't have the words to express my deepest sympathy and quite frankly there are no words that will suffice when something so tragic like this happens.  I take comfort in believing Gale is with her Mom and their exchanges of love and laughter continue on the other side.  While my words may sound placating, I hope that in time these words will serve to comfort you, too.  Much love to all of you.    

My heart is broken. I have known Gale for such a long long time. What a blessing she was. What a beautiful heart and soul.   She meant so much to so many. I am proud to have been a pioneer  with her in the world of developmental disabilities.   She just left away too soon.

Gales’s legacy will forever be one of pure kindness. I think for me what stands out the most about her legacy is that she was always down for something fun. At DDR we have an annual pie baking contest and for those of you who knew her know... she was all in. Gale literally raised her wooden spoon and pointed at the furthest wall in the culinary ball field and proclaimed that she would win the contest. Seriously, she made a lemon meringue pie that blew away her competition. Just so we are clear, when she pointed the wooden spoon I immediately withdrew from the contest. I knew when she said she was going to win, she pretty much meant it. Gale, thanks for bringing love, laughter and friendship into my life and to the walls at DDR. I will miss you so very much. My most sincere condolences to her family and to all of those who love her.

Since the first day I met you I knew you were so special. We immediately bonded and grew an amazing friendship. Your were like an aunt I never had. Thank you for all of the great memories. Every day I hear your laugh, I see your smile. I sit back and think of all the awesome food we have eaten, us taking our site seeing rides and you showed me where you grew up, the lake you guys use to swim in and I loved all the childhood stories. I started traveling to Boone, NC with my children because of you :).  It is hard to know you are not here but your presence will always be here with the Community Works Department. Most importantly you will always be in my heart. God called His child home and I know you are in peace. Love you so much. I miss you. God bless the family.

Sweet Gale I am speechless and overwhelmed with sadness that you are gone but also with contentment because you are with Jesus, whom you truly loved!

I have been cutting Gale’s hair since the mid ‘90s and loved every minute with my Gale! We’ve seen each other thru some really good times and some really dark times.... she loved her family and co workers deeply and that was what most of our conversations were about, other than her beloved tarheels!

When I would see Gale, which was not that often she would always say how you doing sweetie, always had a smile on her face, and always was so sincere on asking how you were doing.  She was always concerned about the people she was working with.  My prayers are with her family.  May God give you peace, and always good memories of your wonderful sister Gale.  

I've known Gale for a little over a year, and had the pleasure of working with her at DDR, she always, always was very pleasant and caring, she will truly be missed! May she forever SIP.

We were so happy to have Gail become part of our ddr family. All of our staff,  providers and the people we serve loved her dearly.  Gail was one of the people that we could describe as living her life as if each day would be her last one. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Gail will miss her terribly.

This is very hard to swallow and although I didn’t know you very well I will most definitely miss your positive attitude, smiling face and warm presence at all the DDR meetings and events.  Your absence is deeply felt.  ❤️

I met Gale in 2000 during my employment with Mecklenburg County. I always considered her my "charlotte mom."  I will remember her contagious laugh and kind heart.   She always was available to everyone on a personal and professional level.  Our conversations about UNC basketball, auto racing, and life in general will never be forgotten.  She will always being looking down on everyone here, she will be missed.

Gale was a sweet lady who always cared about others and was a joy to work with.  My condolences to the family.  

This is very heartbreaking!! One of the sweetest people on earth. Always had a funny gesture, just to make someone else smile!!! I loved to see her dance and sing her way to the bathroom at Baxter St! I loved to hear all the stories about her dear mother, her siblings and picking apples. From the very first day I met this beautiful woman she embraced me in the most warm and positive way. She Always gave the best hugs and effectionately refered to everyone as “baby”or “honey”... Mrs. Gale was my secret Santa this past Christmas and I couldn’t have been more honored. I will miss you dearly Mrs. Gale you truly made a positive impression on me. Gale was one of the best supervisors I’ve ever had. She was beloved by the customers and she’d known so many of them going years back before I was even born! One of the customers she referred to as a “tall drink of water” because he was so tall. He thought it was hilarious and it left a positive memorable impression on him so much that he’d ask me all the time about Gale and bring up that she thought he was a “tall drink of water.” She was loved by all and she was such a great mentor.
