Lewis "Panner" Loftin

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 12:00-2:00pm at McEwen Funeral Home - Derita, 6300 Mallard Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28262. The funeral service will be held immediately after at 2:00pm. Nephew Rev. Scott Whitesides will be officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens at 1504 W. Sugar Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28262.

Born July 10, 1937 in Pumpkin Center in Lincoln County to the late Henry Elgin and Jeanette Howard Loftin, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Christine Gilbert Loftin of Cat Square in Lincoln County, one brother Elliott Loftin of Vale and one sister Barbara Loftin Schronce of Denver.

He graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1955 and served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. He married Christine on June 4, 1961. Lewis owned the H&R Block franchise for Lincoln County for over 35 years and retired from accounting in 2001 when he sold his business. He was hard-working, a devoted, loving and selfless husband and father. He greatly enjoyed hunting with his sons and friends in the Fall every year, a tradition for over 40 years, and later with his grandkids. He and Christine faithfully attended Northside Baptist Church in Charlotte since 1962.

Survivors include his three sons, Kevin Loftin (Tanya) of Charlotte, Derek Loftin (Wendy) of Denver, NC and Shane Loftin (Suzanne) of Denver, NC; three granddaughters, Kristen Loftin Elizarraras of Charlotte, Madison Howard (David) of Salisbury and Meagan Lowrance (Tylor) of Salisbury; one grandson Jacob Loftin of Cullowhee; seven great grandchildren: Kamila and Oliver Elizarraras; Olivia, Jackson, Kiley and Lucas Howard; Eloise Lowrance; two sisters, Alice McMurry of Denver and Sue Watts (R.A.) of Lincolnton; loving in-laws; numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished relatives and friends.

The family wishes to thank special friends of Terra Bella Lincolnton and Carolina Caring Hospice House of Sherrills Ford who provided him excellent care, compassion and companionship. Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 333 Jeremiah Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28262.
