

Born in Pineville, NC on August 23, 1929 to Isaac Wesley Keels and Laura Mae Anderson, Lillie was raised on a 177 acre farm in Monroe with her seven siblings. She attended Wesley Chapel Schools where she learned shorthand and secretarial skills. At the age of 20, she joined her sister Nan and worked at the VA hospital in Washington, DC as the secretary for the chief of neurology and blindness. She also helped her brother-in-law Rupert Murrow driving cars from DC to Forest City, NC all without a driver’s license.
On July 31, 1954, Lillie married W.A. Fincher, Jr (Bug). This union last 55 years until Bug passed in 2009.
Lillie was a lifelong member of Siler Presbyterian Church.
A loving mom, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who enjoyed spending time with the people she loved. She especially enjoyed the Keels family reunion in White Lake, NC which she loyally attended for 57 years.
Left to mourn her loss are her daughters Diane (MJ) and Patsy (Mike); grandsons Seth (Rachel) and Austin (Alyssa) and great grandchildren Maddi, Matthew and Masyn. Lillie is survived by her only sibling, Orean Keels.
The family will greet friends starting at 11am on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Siler Presbyterian Church located at 6301 Weddington Road in Matthews with the funeral service starting at noon. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
Lillie’s request was for everyone to attend her service in casual attire.
