Linda Spratt Barefoot

Mrs. Barefoot, age 72, of Matthews went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, October 19, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

She was born February 22, 1940 in Charlotte, North Carolina the daughter of the late Jean Ray Spratt and John Edward Spratt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Jo Grier in 1989.

Linda graduated from Central High School in 1958 and attended Wingate College and maintained many close friendships with school mates and neighbors throughout her life. She was a genuine, loving, and a very sweet person who always had a smile and was very well liked by all. She was employed for many years with Morrison’s Cafeteria in Charlotte, a homemaker for her children and a devoted and loving wife to her husband W. Crawford Barefoot. She enjoyed movies and Hollywood trivia and loved Elvis Presley.

Surviving are her husband of 21 years, W. Crawford Barefoot; daughter Lisa Grier Green; son, Carey Ernest Grier; grandsons, Carey Ernest Grier, Jr. and Patrick Green; two great-grandchildren; sister, Christy Spratt O’Daniel; brothers, Johnny Spratt, Jr. and Ray Spratt; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Monday, October 22, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.

A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM Monday, October 22, 2012 in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all those who have given their time, attention and wonderful care to Mrs. Barefoot throughout her illness.
