

Born October 19, 1951, in Maracaibo, Venezuela, she was the daughter of the late Leon Blitz Goldberg and Bertha Blitz-Bercowski. Following graduation from Saint Francis of Assisi School, Linda earned a degree in Bioanalysis at Zulia State University. After several years as a professor at the University, she earned a master’s degree in Virology from Reading University in the United Kingdom. She returned to t Zulia State University, retiring as Emeritus Professor of Virology and Head of the Regional Virology Reference Laboratory. Linda later moved to the US and worked as a Financial Crimes Analyst for Wells Fargo where she retired in 2018.
Linda was also a lifelong member of the Israelite Society of Maracaibo, which was founded in August 1945 by Jews who emigrated from Europe.
Her happiness was her work and family. She traveled the world presenting papers at symposia and conferences. In recent years, she and Gary traveled the United States and abroad. Linda was also a great cook and enjoyed Sundays at her house where family and friends gathered for lunch.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Gary Eccles; sons, Denny Dorfman (Claudia) and Alex Dorfman (Carmen); sister, Nora Blitz; and four beloved grandchildren, Aaron Dorfman, Ilana Dorfman, Mark Dorfman and Matthew Dorfman. She was preceded in death by her brother, Izzi Blitz.
While there will not be a funeral service, interment will be at 11:30am on Thursday, August 28 at the Hebrew Cemetery of Charlotte.
