

Mrs. Porter, 97, joyously entered the Church Triumphant on Wednesday, January 18, 2012.
Born April 26, 1914 in Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Porter was a daughter of the late William Orr Brown and Minnie Christenbury Brown. Following graduation from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing she spent her career as a Registered Nurse working in the office of Dr. Franklin L. Wilson as well as at Presbyterian Hospital.
Mrs. Porter was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church where she had been active in all phases of church work including serving as a Deacon and Elder, teaching Sunday School, and being of member of the Presbyterian Women as well as the Just Older Youth Club.
Her family includes three daughters, Mary Pegram Owens (Dr. N.J. Owens, Jr.) of Reidsville, Frances Elizabeth Pegram, and Anna Pegram Everett (Henry K. Everett) all of Charlotte; and her brother and sister, Fred Orr Brown and Mary Brown Bernard, also of Charlotte; as well as four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Chalmers Pegram (1970) and Floyd Samuel Porter (2003); and three brothers, T. Clyde Brown, Banks M. Brown and William Orr Brown, Jr.
A service to celebrate the life of Lois Porter will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 20th in the chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home with the Reverend Stephen Ratliff and the Reverend Tony Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
