Lucille Parrish McConnell

Mrs. Lucille Parrish McConnell, 90, of Charlotte died Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Asbury Care Center. Lucille was born on September 3, 1922 and was the youngest child of the late John Craven Parrish & Anne Westmoreland Parrish. She graduated from Central High School in Charlotte in 1940. She was a retired state employee who worked in the Clerk of Superior Courts Office, Estates Division. Lucille was a charter member of Commonwealth United Methodist Church and a member of the Lands Sunday School class. She resided at Aldersgate, a United Methodist Retirement Community, and was very involved in community activities including serving as a resident representative to the Board of Advisors. In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Blair McConnell, sisters, Laura P. Auten, Mildred P. Bollinger, Sarah P. Howard, and her brothers, Paul Parrish, John W. Parrish, Gene Parrish, and George Parrish. She is survived by her daughter Jennie McConnell Kehoe and husband Tom, daughter Barbara McConnell Holliday and husband Bill, grandson Brandon Holliday, granddaughter Stacy Holliday, Cesar Tamariz and great grandson Cody Tamariz Holliday, niece Judy Talbot and family, nephew John Parrish and wife Pat, and many other cousins and friends. Lucille was a devoted mother and grandmother, and a caring and compassionate friend. She will be missed dearly. We will celebrate her life at Commonwealth United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 10 AM on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, and the service beginning at 11. Reverend Peggy Bridgers will be officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Commonwealth United Methodist Church, 2434 Commonwealth Ave., Charlotte, NC, 28205, to Aldersgate United Methodist Retirement Community, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215 or to a charity of choice .
