Mamie Bowers

Mamie, age 85, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. Born April 25, 1928 in Gastonia, she was a daughter of the late Elsie Janis Christenbury. Mamie was a loving homemaker and worked with her husband’s furniture upholstering business for 55 years. She was also a hostess at Burger King for 15 years. Mamie was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church for 67 years where she proudly served in many capacities, including being a member of the choir for 50 years. She truly loved praising God through song.

Mamie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John; two infant children, Perry and Tammy; mother; and sister, Elizabeth Caudle. Survivors include son, Tim Bowers and wife, Cindy, of Mooresville; grandsons, Mitchell Bowers and fiancé, Kristen Curan of Cornelius and Jess Bowers of Mooresville; granddaughter, Jamie Bowers of Mooresville; and two great granddaughters.

The family will receive friends 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM Sunday, March 30th at McEwen Funeral Service - Derita Chapel. Funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Bob Symanski, officiating. Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Park.
