

Margaret Rhyne Bigham, 83, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. She was born on her father's birthday, July 15, 1933 to Wayne and Stacey Rhyne.Margaret was a graduate of Berryhill High School in Charlotte where she met the love of her life, Jim Bigham. Later she attended CPCC in Charlotte. Her career as an Administrative Assistant led her through all levels of the Charlotte Mecklenburg school system. She later retired from Butler High School.Margaret was a longtime member of Amity Presbyterian Church, where she served in many committees including Sunday School Teacher, Cub Scout Leader, Circle Leader, and Elder of the church. She was also a member of Amity Amiables, the Seekers Group, and also received the Presbyterian Women's Life Membership Award.Margaret never met a stranger, and had the gift of life-long friends. She also will be remembered for having the deepest love and joy for her family.During her illness, it was her greatest desire to remain at home for care. She was able to do so with family, friends, and the compassionate caregivers at Brightstar and Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region.Margaret is preceded in death by her loving husband Jim Bigham who passed away in 2008. She is survived by her brother Tom (Trish); children Lynda (Donnie), Jimmy (Gwen); grandchildren Jennifer, Emily, Jacob, John; great grandchildren Piper and Sloan.Visitation will take place at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 7-9pm. Service will be on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Amity Presbyterian Church, 2831 North Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte beginning at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Sharon Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Amity Presbyterian Church or any charity organization in her name.
