

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Chisholm died peacefully at home on July 24, 2012, surrounded by her family . Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Larry Chisholm, Sr., and her eldest daughter, Helen Chisholm Black of Chicago.
Margaret was born in Waynesboro, PA, daughter of the late Helen and Emmert Miller. She graduated from the University of PA Nursing School, and began her nursing career at Duke University Hospital. Where she met her future husband Larry.
They were married at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Charlotte, and raised their five children here. Margaret spent the rest of her nursing career at the original Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital. She retired after over 25 years of service.
She will be remembered for her wonderful smile and gentle spirit. Margaret was a loving wife, mother and Nana.
Margret was very involved at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church until she could no longer attend because of her health. She taught Sunday School, sang on the choir and served on the Worship and Music Committee with the Altar Guild for many years.
She loved gardening and she was a talented artist. She also loved nature and believed in “blooming where she was planted”. Margaret was truly a joyful servant of the Lord.
Margaret is survived by her brother, E. Carl Miller of Colorado; son-in law Bruce Black of Chicago; son, John E. Chisholm of Charlotte; daughter, Carolyn C. Usinger and her husband Bill of Charlotte; grandchildren Matthew and Emily; son, Larry D. Chisholm, Jr. of Winston-Salem; and son, Richard E. Chisholm and his wife, Lisa of Winston-Salem; and granddaughter Elena.
A memorial service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held on Saturday, July 28th at 2:30 pm at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Peter M. Brown officiating. Inurnment will be in St Mark's Columbarium, followed by the family's receiving friends in the Gathering Place of the church.
