Margaret Boykin Rowland

Margaret Boykin Rowland of Charlotte, born October 17, 1918 died June 27, 2010 at Sharon Towers. She was preceded in death by her husband H. Carl Rowland, Director of Hospital Planning and Design Services at Duke Endowment and her siblings, Elizabeth Keck Runyan, William Boykin and Hunter Boykin. She was the daughter of the late William Whitaker Boykin and Mary Jones Boykin. She was in the class of ’37 at old Central High School and attended Queens College and Carolina Business School. She was a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughter Margaret Elizabeth (Libby) Rowland Anderson and her husband J. Martin Anderson of Richmond, VA., nephew James Boykin of Charlotte, NC, niece Sheri Lawler of Columbus, GA, nephew Peter Keck of Cashiers, NC and niece Cindy Dunn of Westerville, OH and their spouses and children. Her zest for life and positive attitude was evident to all. She was a loving and compassionate mother, sister, aunt and friend. The family wants to express our sincere gratitude and love to Lyn Sutterlin who spent countless hours visiting and assisting Margaret during her stay at Sharon Towers. A Memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Harry and Bryant Chapel, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207 @ 2:00 on Saturday July 24, 2010 with Reverend Joe Sutterlin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Resident’s Assistance Fund at Sharon Towers, 5100 Sharon Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
