Mark was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 2, 1967, the youngest of six children born to the late Robert and Jalma Lysholm.
Mark studied English Literature at the University of Minnesota. He loved the arts and was especially drawn to classical music, a love born from watching Saturday morning cartoons, especially Bugs Bunny. Mark had a penchant for learning languages, including Spanish, French, Italian and Greek. He loved his life with Lisa and noted that ‘all this is a gift.’
Mark’s unwavering Christian faith developed during his high school and college years and led him on various mission trips, both throughout the United States and Bolivia. His last trip lasted a full year where he helped build a school.
Upon Mark’s return from Bolivia, he met Lisa, the love of his life, his ‘one and only.’ They are celebrating their silver anniversary this year. Together they shared their love of adventure by traveling the world to include Mexico, Greece, England, France, Spain, Scotland, multiple trips to Italy and Canada and many destinations in the United States.
Mark never let his neurofibromatosis (NF1) prevent him from doing what he wanted to do. He enjoyed biking, running (including two marathons), achieving a black belt in taekwondo, reading and studying books, especially the Bible which he read completely four times.
Mark loved his job as a freight forwarder. While at UPS, he was awarded Global Excellence in Customer Service. Mark enjoyed 26 years and UPS and finished his career at DSV Air and Sea in Charlotte, NC.
Left to mourn his loss is his soulmate, Lisa and their four feline kids; siblings Deborah, Shirlee (John), Robert Junior (Lori), Nancie (Dan) and Kurt (Stacy), two generations of nieces and nephews, cousins and his sister-in-law Barbara.
