Mark Whitfield, 72, of Charlotte passed away peacefully, November 22, 2020, at his home. Born March 3, 1948 in Collingswood, NJ, he was the son of Robert E. and Addie (Bowman) Whitfield. He married Joan D. Pointkowski 47 years ago, on August 18, 1973.
A devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mark was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a faithful Christian. He retired from Time Warner after 34 years of employment.
He had a passion for history and trains. His hobbies included stamp and coin collecting.
Survivors include his wife, Joan P. Whitfield; daughter, Mary E. Whitfield; son, Joseph R. (Jessica) Whitfield; grandson, Harrison Grant and a second grandbaby due in May; two sisters, Carol (Delran, NJ) and Ruth (Medford, NJ); with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside Service 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte. Visitation 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service.
