

Mary Elizabeth Crowley Eggleston, 90, of Charlotte died on February 27, 2015. She was born on February 19, 1925 in Woonsocket, RI. Mary graduated from O’Donoghue School in Charlotte in 1939, Notre Dame Academy in Southern Pines, NC in 1943, Trinity College in Washington DC in 1947 and Katharine Gibbs School in 1948. She was an Administrative Assistant in Foreign Service with the U.S. State Department. Mary met Ken Eggleston at a Marine Corps Ball in Ethiopia and they later married on May 28, 1959 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. After many years enjoying Ken’s military career and travel, they retired in Bella Vista, AR. Mary was a faith-filled Catholic and very proud Republican. After traveling the world, Mary returned to her hometown of Charlotte.
Mary is predeceased by her loving husband of 32 years, Kenneth Lee Eggleston, a highly decorated lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army; her parents, John E. Crowley and Mary Elizabeth Crowley and brother, John E. Crowley. She is survived by her brothers, Thomas J. Crowley and his wife, Ann of Charlotte and William S. Crowley of Fort Mill; sister-in-law, Rosemary Crowley; stepson, Geoffrey Eggleston and his wife, Jessie of MO; stepdaughter, Diana Curl and her husband, Bill of San Francisco, CA; and 37 nieces and nephews. Her two nieces, Marion and Ann will truly miss their many visits with their aunt over these past years.
Mary will be buried at a private service alongside her husband, Ken, in Bella Vista Memorial Gardens in Bella Vista, AR.
