

Born in Waterloo, Iowa, on April 10, 1944, he was the beloved son of Donald and Mary Kassner, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his brother Kevin Kassner and sister Kay Stadtherr.
Michael spent most of his adult life in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he built a remarkable career in broadcasting. His work took him across the globe - from Vietnam to cities throughout the United States - serving in radio, television, and cable. He was the proud owner of two radio stations and was known for his passion, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to the craft.
Beyond broadcasting, Michael was an avid pilot and a proud member of the Civil Air Patrol, participating in rescue missions across the country. In his later years, he found joy and purpose as a dedicated instructor at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), where he mentored countless students with wisdom and care.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rosemary Steele Kassner; his devoted daughter Loan Thompson and son-in-law Frank; and his cherished grandchildren, Kai and Logan. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Pat Stadtherr. sisters-in-law Sylvia Steele Echols (Jim), Anne Steele, and Pauline Kassner. Along with leaving behind numerous nieces and nephews who will remember his warmth, humor, and generosity.
Michael lived a life of integrity, faithfulness, and passion. He was successful in all he pursued, and he touched the lives of many with his kindness and commitment. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
