

Michael Vincent Weller, 80, of Charlotte NC died on Sept. 24, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all that knew and loved him.
He was born on January 20, 1931 in St. Louis Missouri to the late Michael E. and Kathleen Weller in St. Louis, MO. Mike was educated by the Jesuits at St. Louis University High School. Michael served his country proudly during the Korean conflict as a staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He earned the Korean Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Michael had a 35 year career with IBM in Endicott, New York and Charlotte, and travelled extensively on international business. Mike was very involved in his parish, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Parish council, and the Knights of Columbus. Mike was an avid fan of the Carolina Panthers from the very beginning. He enjoyed travelling all over the world and instilled in his family a love of travel. Mike was a devoted husband of Norma, recently celebrating 55 years of marriage. Mike was proud of his four children and seven grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife Norma, two sisters, Pauline Pearson (Florissant Missouri) and Floracita Dunn (Queens, NY); Four children : Linda Dunham and her husband Aaron of Harrisburg, NC; Karen Anderson and her husband Daniel of Annapolis Maryland; Michael C. Weller and his wife Lisa of Harrisburg, NC and Jim Weller of Queens, NY; Seven grandchildren: Alex, Erica, Alison, Michael J., Caroline, Jake and Carrie.
A Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210 with Rev. Mark S. Lawlor Celebrant. A Columbarium Committal will follow at the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church Columbarium. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210 and at 10:00 am at the church before the service. Memorial may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
