

Mildred Depperman Welky, 91, passed away October 13, 2015. She was born June 22, 1924, in Leslie, MO, to Dorothea and Martin Depperman. She was baptized, confirmed, and married in Ebenezer Lutheran Church by Pastor Paul Schmidt.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Robert Leonard Welky. They were married on October 15, 1944, and blessed with three children: Ashley Walsh Buie, Wilton Manors, FL; Barbara Goodloe, Charlotte, NC; and Edwin Welky, Indianapolis, IN.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran/Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church, Ft. Lauderdale, for almost 60 years. She was an active member of the church, participating in Altar Guild activities, and assisting with rummage and bake sales. In the past few years, she was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church of Charlotte.
She was an employee of Britts and J. Byrons department stores for 24 years. She was “the face” of their customer service departments.
The joy of her life was her family. “Mema” as she was fondly known, is survived by her children, Barbara; Edwin and daughter-in-law, Cheryl; and Ashley; six grandchildren, Robert Goodloe (Gabriella), Charlotte; Jeffrey Goodloe (Laura), Chicago; Joseph Goodloe (Brandi), Spring Lake, NC; Philip Goodloe (Kobi), Cary, NC; Stephanie Martin, Palm Bay, FL; and Robert Welky, U.S. Navy, Okinawa, Japan; nine great grandchildren, Robert and Anthony Goodloe, Charlotte; Gannon and Mackenna Goodloe, Spring Lake; Will and MacKenzie Goodloe, Cary; Paige Martin, Palm Bay, FL; Kaila Welky, Okinawa; and Haleigh Williams, Orlando; and her brother, Wilbert Depperman (Marilyn), Washington, MO.
Burial will be in Washington, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Levine & Dickson Hospice House-Southminster, 8919 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
The family would like to thank the staff for their comforting and gentle care during Mom’s stay at Southminster.
