Molly H. Marshall

Molly grew up in the Riverbend Duke Power village, the second of four children born to the late Bertha Mae Hall (née Jenkins), of Baden, NC, and Earl Nelson Hall, of Charlottesville, VA.

Molly was first employed with Duke Power. She married Benjamin T. “Ben” Marshall in 1949 and they made their home in Charlotte until moving to Virginia where Molly worked for the American Tobacco Company. When Ben got the opportunity to work in California, they decided to pack up and move – Molly said they figured if they didn’t like it, they could always move back to the east coast.

Molly and Ben ended up staying in California, and while there, Molly worked for Duke Almond Metal and later retired from Northrup Grumman. She always enjoyed the bookkeeping/financial side of the business, saying she was “better with figures than ‘Dear Sirs.’”

Molly and Ben always planned to retire in Charlotte, so in 1992 she returned to NC. While she enjoyed her work, Molly loved her family and her church. The many friends she made at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Huntersville were dear to her and she enjoyed serving the church in various capacities, including making her famous chocolate pound cake on numerous occasions. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Molly enjoyed knitting and working in her yard.

In addition to her parents, Molly was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Benjamin T. Marshall; sister, Marjorie Earline Hall Hiller; brothers, Paige Nelson Hall and George W. Hall; sister-in-law, Hazel Hall; brother-in-law, Kenneth Hiller; and nephews, Earl Hiller and William Hiller.

Left to remember her with smiles, love, and laughter are her nephews, Mark Hall (Deborah) and James Hiller (Susan); nieces, Carmi H. Henderson (Doug), Tema H. Banner (Gil), and Reba Hall; knitting buddy and sister-in-law, Nancy-Coe T. Hall; and dear cousins, Jeannine Dibble (Paul), Sheila Blocker (Lance), and Caroline Fortner (Eddy); as well as a host of great nieces and nephews and cousins.

The Hall family thanks Stanley Total Living and their Memory Care Unit for their compassionate care of Molly during her stay. Your loving kindness and patience are deeply appreciated. You made Molly’s last days as comfortable as possible and we are forever thankful for you.

The funeral service is to be conducted at 10:00am on Friday, June 30, 2023 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 8600 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road in Huntersville, where Father Garry Edwards is to officiate. The burial will follow at St. Mark's Episcopal Church Cemetery.

Molly's services will conclude with the family receiving friends for a reception at St. Mark's Episcopal Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Molly’s memory to Hospice & Palliative Care – Lincoln County, Stanley Total Living Center, or St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
