Myles P Thompson
13 octubre , 1942 – 26 octubre , 2020
Myles Preston Thompson, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2020 in Charlotte, North Carolina surrounded by loving friends.
Known for his cheeky intellect, sweet tooth, and take-no-prisoners wit, Myles was born on October 13, 1942 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The third child of Erma Helen Thompson (née Atkinson) and Myles Ulmer Thompson, Myles is survived by sisters Faye Manderson and Sandra Bradshaw, brother Richard Thompson, numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends. His family and friends would like to thank his devoted caregivers.
His own penchant for sporadic theatrics aside, Myles was boundlessly passionate about the theater. After earning a Master of Fine Arts in theater management from Florida State University, he managed the FSU Fine Arts Ticket Office for years. Previously, he taught both math and English, further evidence of his balanced, impressive mind. When he moved to Charlotte, Myles took up a career in customer service in the home-building industry, amassing a host of new friends as he put his own formidable spin on outdueling the occasional difficult homebuyer.
Since he predeceased Barbra Streisand, it is easy to imagine Myles introducing himself to Ruth Bader Ginsberg and John Lewis and conspiring with them to incite eternal good trouble.
A memorial service will be held on November 11, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC.

Myles, my dear old friend. Why oh why did I wait all the years since seeing you last to reach out to find you? Our memories in Tallahassee will always be some of my favs. And later, being the only friend (at the time) to meet your mom was such a privilege - what a wonderful woman. You were one of the funniest - and sassiest - people I've ever known. I'll love you forever. Jeff

Myles, I will miss you dearly. We took on challenges like programming all your electronic devices into a universal remote and finding a restaurant open on Christmas. But mostly I will miss talking with you. In every conversation we shared, I would learn about you and from you. Things may not have always been easy, but they were always fun. My sincerest condolences to all who knew him.
