

Myrt Kemenczky, 89, of Charlotte, passed away on July 17, 2014. She was born in Chesterfield County, SC to the late Samuel Isaac Mangum and Susie Sullivan Mangum. Myrt grew up in Pageland, SC and was married to William J. Kemenczky in 1943. They were married for 49 years until his death in 1992. She and Bill lived to NJ for a short time and then moved to Charlotte in 1946.
Myrt worked at Sears for 27 years and retired in 1989. She was active in the ministries of Spencer Memorial Methodist Church for 50 years and was most recently a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church.
Myrt enjoyed gardening and took pride in her lawn and flowers. She loved to travel and see new places. She loved people and never met a stranger. Because she was such a good friend to others, she was blessed with lasting friendships. Myrt made everyone feel loved and cherished.
Her greatest love was for her family. She is survived by her three children: Suanna K. Ray of Charlotte, Debra Bennett and her husband, Rick of Cullowhee, NC and Joe Kemenczky and his wife, Jacki of Monroe, NC; her two grandchildren: Erin Kemenczky, Kyle Kemenczky and wife Kristen of Monroe, NC; her niece and dear friend, Boots Whitehurst . She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. A reception and visitation will follow at the church.
