Nancy Young Hawkins

She was born in Charlotte on January 29, 1938 to Wallace and Hazeleen Stutts Young. She graduated from Derita Elementary and North Mecklenburg High School. She went on to loyally work for Terrel Machine Co. for 36 years. Nancy retired from Murata Wiedemann Machinery. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to every state in the US; making handmade crafts for friends, sewing, baking, arranging beautiful flowers and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Lloyd Hawkins; her sister, Cyndi Brunni (Leo) of Vanceboro; her two nephews, Avery and Caleb Brunni of Vanceboro; her sister-in-law, Virginia White Young of Concord; her neice, Leigh Ann Loyd (Jeremy); her great nephews Jesse and Josh Loyd from Rockwell; and her aunt Margaret Stutts Benton of Monroe.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Stevens Young.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, April 11, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service Derita Chapel 6300 Mallard Creek Road. The celebration of her life will take place 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service Derita Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Case officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
