

Nancy Bowles Walters, of Cramerton, North Carolina, passed away on November 9, 2016, peacefully at her home at the age of 83. She was born on May 24, 1933 in Lynchburg, Virginia, daughter of the late Kate Tweedy Bowles and Ralph Henry Bowles, Sr. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Jack Edmonds Walters: as well as her brother Ralph Henry Bowles, Jr.
Nancy was a graduate of Marietta High School. She was a senior guard on the 1951 girls’ basketball team, which won the State of Georgia A Championship and was inducted into the school athletic Hall of Fame. Nancy Worked as the office manager for Jack Walters, Inc. of Charlotte, North Carolina for 25 years, retiring when the company was sold to Progress Energy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cramerton, North Carolina: Cramer Mountain Country Club; and the Woman’s Club of Cramer Mountain.
Nancy is survived by her son, John Bolden Walters and wife Danielle: grandson Bolden Lee Walters and CJ Walters: as well as her sister-in–law, Mary Bowles and nephews Eric, David and Preston Bowles: brother-in-law’s Fred Walters and Hugh Walters and wives and sister-in-law’s Mary Walters Jackson and Ruth Walters Burgess and husbands: and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, "Kita", who brought joy to her life on a daily basis.
Our family would like to give special thanks to Nancy’s caregivers: Tabby, Essie, Phalytha, Parthenia and Darlene.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, November 14, 2016. A private funeral service will follow in the Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Dr. David Julen. A service of committal will follow in the Gardens of Sharon Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, in care of Oasis Shrine, 604 Doug Mayes Place, Charlotte, NC 28262.
Arrangements will be in the care of McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212.
