Olen Eben Morgan

Charlotte-Mr. Olen Eben Morgan, 82, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital. Born in Albemarle, NC, Mr. Morgan was a son of the late Eben C. Morgan and Mamie Herrin Morgan. He was the retired owner of Pool Builders Supply and had been a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church since 1992. Mr. Morgan graduated from Pfeiffer Junior College, received his bachelor’s degree from Duke University and received his master’s degree from Georgia Tech. He was a United States Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War and studied at the Army Language School in Monterey, CA. He served the Air Force as a Russian language translator. Mr. Morgan was a Professional Engineer and will be remembered for his devoted work ethic and for being a pioneer in the pool industry.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Misenheimer Morgan; two sons, Mark Morgan, Matt Morgan and wife Barbara; a daughter Taryn Springsteed and husband John, all of Charlotte and nine grandchildren; Dan, Cary, Ben, David, Mallory, Austin, Lily, Elias and Collette.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, July 6th at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Joe Brown and Rev. John Harrill officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan White, Cary White, Ben White, Austin Morgan, Joshua Ellis, Charlie Blanton and David Springsteed.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00PM to 7:30PM at the funeral home.
