

Oma A. Wilkinson, of Charlotte was reunited with her Heavenly Father on September 17, 2012 after a short but very courageous battle with cancer. Greeting her with open arms were her beloved husband, Nat, and her cherished Yorkie, Harley.
Oma was born on March 28, 1935 to Wilmer and Dora A. Kinder in Alum Creek, WV. She attended St. Albans High School and married Nat Wilkinson in March, 1953. They resided in St. Albans, WV until 1987 when they moved to Charlotte, NC and began their business, Boom Truck Service No. 1 Inc., from which she retired in 2008. Oma was a dedicated Christian and especially enjoyed worshiping and fellowship at Gateway Church of Christ, St. Albans, WV and at Westview Christian Church, Charlotte, NC. Her skills in the kitchen were amazing and her dishes at congregational and family gatherings were always the best.
Oma was a proud mother, a fantastic mother-in-law, a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Terri Whittaker and husband, John, of Charlotte, NC, son Bill of Charlotte, NC, daughter Renee Spurlock and her husband, Brad, of St. Albans, WV, son Todd and his wife, Lisa, of Waxhaw, NC and daughter Leigh Ann Hunter and her husband Greg, of Belmont, NC. She was blessed with grandchildren, Lara Whittaker Mekeel and her husband, Jess, of Cary, NC, Chris Whittaker of Charlotte, NC, Al Wilkinson of Dunbar, WV, Mychal Spurlock and his wife Cassie of St. Albans, WV, Katie Wilkinson Nixon and her husband, Jonathan, of Charlotte, NC and Chad Wilkinson of Waxhaw, NC and her very precious great-granddaughter, Caroline Nixon, of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Pauley and her husband, Otto, of Alum Creek, WV and a beloved niece, Carolyn DeMotto of Elkins, WV.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the loving care provided by the staff and nurses from Charlotte Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, NC and the staff at Pineville Radiation Therapy Center of Pineville, NC.
Visitation with the family will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Home, Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC followed by a celebration of Oma’s life at 12:00 p.m. officiated by her son-in-law, Greg Hunter. Burial will follow at Crown Memorial Park, 9620 Rodney Street, Pineville, NC.
