Patricia D. Garcia

Patricia D. Garcia, age 80, passed away Thursday, January, 31, 2013 at Harris Hospice Unit, Presbyterian Hospital.

She was born April 10, 1932 in New York City, New York the daughter of the late Ernest Deaton and Ann McGivney Deaton. She is preceded in death by her son, Sean Garcia.

Patricia enjoyed traveling and singing, she was a member of the Charlotte Choral Society and the Oratorio Chorale Society. She worked for Belk Store Services and after her retirement taught English as a second language and volunteered with the Charlotte Police Department.

Surviving are her sons, Stephen Garcia, Miguel Garcia and Matthew Garcia and husband Robert Jakoubek; daughter, Mercedes Carver and husband Lou Carver; five grandchildren, Richard Weaver, Ann Hellwege (Stephen), Jennifer Garcia, Joell Rodriguez (Angel) and Ashley Garcia; great grandchild, Jacob Hellwege; three brothers, Ernest Deaton, Stephen Deaton and Thomas Deaton; sister, Geraldine Cate; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 3, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the memorial service.
