

Pat Turner, 91, of Charlotte passed away on October 5, 2010 in a local Charlotte Rehabilitation Facility. He will always be remembered for his love of music, being a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He was born on January 12, 1919 in Clearfield, PA to Patrick and Lula Haney Turner Sr. He was a US Army WW II Veteran fighting with the 190th Field Artillery Group in the European Theatre. Later, he would gather with this same 190th F.A. Group Association for many reunions throughout the years. He graduated from Penn State in 1949 and pursued a career in Civil Engineering. He later retired as an Account Engineer with Industrial Risk Insurers in the Charlotte area.
Pat’s love of music was another passion he enjoyed. He was the choir director at Bethel United Methodist Church in Midland, NC for 25 years. He was a member of the Charlotte Oratorio Singers for 20 years here in Charlotte as well as a member of the St. James Male Chorus based in Charlotte. Until recently he was a member of the choir at St. Andrews UMC.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years Lollie Turner of Charlotte; a son Patrick J Turner III (Pam) of Loganville, GA; 2 daughters Laura Kitchen (John) of Gastonia, NC and Sally Isenhour (Tony) of Indian Trail, NC; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; 1 brother Reginald L Turner and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by 2 brothers Austin and Rodman Turner and a sister Maxine Quinn.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC on Wednesday, October 6, 2010. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 1900 Emerywood Drive, Charlotte, 28210 with Rev. Jack Knosepel officiating.
