

He is survived by his devoted wife, Amelia, of 59 years, whom he adored. He was also a loving father to their three children, Pat (Liz), Ann (Rob), and John. He is also survived by his eight loving grandchildren: Kylie, (Abby), Shay, Cassidy, Lauren, Michael, John, Jayden, and Jake. Together with Amelia they raised their family in Rye, New York, where they happily resided for 50 years. He was a NYC Firefighter at the same engine company for 30 years, Engine 64, Castle Hill.
He was extremely dedicated to his job, even receiving the Pulaski Medal Award for his bravery. He was recognized by the mayor of NYC with this prestigious award in 1995. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, and the many friends they made through the fire department and all their years living in New York. He also enjoyed boating, even having his own boat for many years. He was very active his whole life, he kept busy by doing things from woodworking in his tool shop, to helping his neighbors anytime they needed something done. He also enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren, always putting a smile on their face with his humor and wit. He will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
A visitation for Pat will be held Friday, May 5, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
A burial service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM - Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC 28104.
