

Paul W. Lindsay, Jr., known to family and friends as “Buddy”, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 following a brief illness. He was 92 years old. Paul was born in Charlotte, N.C. on October 26, 1924, the son of the late Paul W. and Ainer S. Lindsay. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Josephine H. Lindsay, daughters Virginia L. Lindsay of Belmont N. C. and Jo Lynn Stern and son-in-law John H. Stern of Cramerton, N.C. He is predeceased by his brother Robert V. Lindsay of Charlotte, N. C.
Paul was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system and graduated from Thomasboro High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps with the 4th Marine Division during World War II making the initial assault on the Marshall Islands, Saipan and Tinian Island. He returned to the States in 1944 to participate in the V-12 Navy College Training Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He worked for 27 years in the finance industry, serving in various management positions with Consolidated Credit Co. and Allis-Chalmers Credit Corp., retiring in 1979. He spent many enjoyable years in retirement conversing with neighbors, smoking fine cigars, reading books, and watching “Jeopardy”.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 140 N. Main St., Mt. Holly, NC 28120. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church vestibule. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn West cemetery in Charlotte, N.C.
