

Paul was born on January 29, 1923 as the eighth of ten children of an Italian immigrant family from Vittorio Veneto, Italy. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp, 20th Combat Mapping Squadron in New Guinea from 1943 to 1945.
His life will be remembered as one of fidelity to his Catholic faith and his devotion to his wife of almost 69 years, Phyllis Irene Tonon (nee Palazzo) and to his entire family. In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his three sons: Paul Gregory Tonon and wife Linda of Bristol, CT, Mark Tonon and wife Carrie of Bristol, and Peter Tonon and wife Lucie of Charlotte; grandchildren, Gregori Tonon and wife Stephanie of Avon, CT, Lisa Donoghue and husband, Greg of Hingham, MA, Angela Tonon of South Orange, NJ, Joseph Tonon of Bristol, Lauren Tonon of Charlotte, Peter Tonon, Jr. of Columbia, SC, Louis Tonon, also of Charlotte; and, great-grandchildren, Paul and Lila Donoghue of Hingham, MA, and Mia and Olivia Tonon of Avon, CT.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3635 Park Road Charlotte, with Fr. Timothy S. Reid, Celebrant. The family will greet friends following the Mass. Burial will take place at a later date in Bristol, CT.
