Pauline Whittington Lawrence

Pauline Whittington Lawrence, 83, a faithful servant of the Lord went home to be with her Savior, February 4, 2012 at home in Charlotte, NC. She was born December 21, 1928 in Wake County, NC. She was the daughter of the late J. Lonnie Whittington and Emma Mae Jones Whittington. She is survived by her sister, Gladys Gerald of Chadbourne, NC. Pauline grew up in Fuquay Varina, NC and graduated from Apex High School.

She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend to many. She loved her church where she served 54 years playing the organ, teaching VBS, Sunday School, and dedicating her time and talents in countless ways. She was famous for her beautiful Wedding Cakes and baking talents. She served her family, friends, and her community with the love of Christ abounding in his love and showing mercy to all. She leaves a legacy for others to follow which leads to the cross.

She is survived by her sons, Eugene Cary Lawrence, Jr. and his wife Gwen, Jerry Michael Lawrence and his wife Gail, Stephen Eric Lawrence and his wife Eva; and her daughter Nancy Lawrence Lofton and her husband Ronald W. Lofton. She had eight grandchildren: David, Van, Dale, Tiffany, Eric, Heather, Shannon, Amanda. She had 13 great grandchildren: Devin, Dylan, Erica, Andrew, Landon, Brittany, Garrett, Gabriel, Harrison, Savannah, Lauren, Hadley and Levi.

Visitation will be held in the sanctuary of Emanuel Baptist Church of Charlotte on Wednesday February 8, 2012 from 11am to 12:30 pm. The funeral service will follow the visitation beginning at 12:30pm. A graveside service will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
