

Perry was born in Cliffside, NC on Feb 3, 1927. He was the son of the late Guy and Tennie Frye and brother of the late Harry Frye.
Perry graduated from Cliffside High School at age 16 and started college at Western Carolina University the following year. After completing his first year of college, Perry joined the Army Air Corp, but later returned to Western Carolina to graduate in 1950. He met the love of his life, Mae McGee Frye of Spruce Pine, NC, through mutual friends in Charlotte in 1952. They married in 1956 and shared 65 wonderful years together.
His first job was with Raylass Department Store in Winston Salem. He later settled into his career as a branch manager for Kenney Manufacturing Company for 33 years, retiring in July 1989. Perry was a long-time member of the Eastern Hills Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Perry was also an active member and President in the local Lion’s Club.
Perry enjoyed spending time with family and could fix anything. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He had a great sense of humor and was a very caring and generous person. He had a strong faith and was a devoted Christian.
Perry is survived by his loving wife Mae Frye; two children Terry Frye of Charlotte, NC and Scott Frye and his wife, Marcia of Chesapeake VA; grandchildren Alyse McDaniel Eisenberg and husband Aaron, Wesley McDaniel and partner Taylor Navarro, Carsten Frye, and Bennett Frye; new great grand-daughter Ayla Day Eisenburg and son-in-law Kevin McDaniel. He was preceded in death by his sweet daughter, Sandra Frye McDaniel.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, August 27th at 12:30PM at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte with Dr. James Weddington officiating. The Frye family will greet friends and family after the service.
