

Peter affectionately known as "Pete" was born on December 8, 1940 to Mary Nagel and James Callahan at St. Mary's hospital in the City of Orange township, New Jersey. He was the youngest of 7 children.
Peter attended St. John's catholic school through 8th grade and graduated from a trade high school in New Jersey. He worked for A. Monteverdi Co. a tobacco and candy consumer products distributor in Orange, N.J. from the age of 15 until he joined the U.S. Army reserves, where he was stationed in Macon, Georgia. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Orange, N.J. where he met his lifelong partner of 47 years, Diane Barrett and continued to work for A. Monteverdi until he became ill in 1999.
Peter enjoyed playing cards and drinking beer at his social club in Orange. He loved baseball and was nicknamed "the Commissioner" by his best friend Mr. Violetti.
Pete also was very involved in local politics in his hometown of Orange.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Callahan, his siblings, James, Helen, Dorothy, Louise, Alice and Betty.
He leaves to mourn his memory, life partner Diane Barrett, daughter Joanna Barrett, stepchildren; Angelina Sims (Hakim), Ramona Barrett, Carl Barrett (Patricia) and Frank Barrett (Laura). His grandchildren; Derrick, Devante, Deanna and Melina. 2 great grandchildren; Madisyn and Zariah and a host of loving family members and friends.
