Peter DeGorter

Peter was born June 28, 1958 in Manhasset, NY. He is the son of John de Gorter and Denise Onghena. In his youth, Peter attended Deerfield Academy of Massachusetts, and cherished his time there as a student. Peter then attended the University of Miami, where he studied Marine Science and Biology. He later went on to dedicate his life working in the family business, DeGorter Incorporated, in the glass manufacturing industry. Peter has been President and CEO of DeGorter Inc. since 1989.

Peter is married to Jeanne Dale deGorter, and dedicated much of his time, attention and love to his family. He will be forever remembered as a great father, husband, and a friend to many. He was a man who lived in the moment and always knew how to have a good time. He knew how to make you laugh, lend a hand, and always knew what song to play. He is loved by many, and will forever be missed.

Peter is preceded in death by his father, John deGorter. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne deGorter; his mother, Denise deGorter; his siblings, Deborah deGorter and Daniel deGorter; his children, Yvonne Schwartz, Danielle deGorter, Peter deGorter, Robert deGorter, Adrienne Camacci, and Ryan Atwood; and was the grandfather to nine grandchildren.

A memorial service in honor of Peter will be held at Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte, on Wednesday January 3, 2018 at 2 p.m. A reception of family and friends will be held following the service.
