Pheng Vang was born in 1959 in Naag Mai, Laos, to Boua Leng Vang and Chia Her. He had three brothers and four sisters. In 1980, Pheng Vang moved to Thailand, where he married Poua Yang. A devout believer in Jesus Christ and a compassionate medical assistant, he dedicated himself to caring for the sick. Pheng and Poua were blessed with two sons. Following Poua's passing, Pheng Vang and his sons were sponsored by his sister, Chou Vang and relocated to the United States, settling in Kansas City in 1992.
Adjusting to life in a foreign country presented challenges for Pheng Vang and his children, prompting them to move across several states in search of a better life. As a single father, Pheng Vang faced the challenges of raising his two children alone, but he devoted himself to supporting and loving them to the best of his ability. Despite facing health setbacks which limited his ability to travel, Pheng Vang remained steadfast in his faith.
