Born September 26, 1934 in Broken Arrow, OK and raised in Charlotte, Tootsie was the youngest child to the late Wade and Frances Lucille Sisco. Tootsie married her childhood sweetheart, Fred Melvin Mills in 1951 and enjoyed 63 wonderful years together until his death in 2014.
Tootsie was a long-time member of Woodlawn Baptist Church; where she had many friends and especially enjoyed Sunday lunches with her special friends, Reba and Peggy. There are so many things she enjoyed; painting intricate, ceramic dolls with her sister, Mary Ruth, word search puzzles, shopping with Lillie but most of all, she cherished the time spent with family and friends.
Tootsie is survived by her daughter, Janice Slawter of Charlotte; son, David Mills of Hartsville; grandsons, Wesley Avant and wife Shena of Charlotte, Kevin Avant and wife Lindsey of Charlotte; granddaughter Stacy Mills Chisholm and husband Chuck of Patrick; great granddaughters, Haley and Hannah Avant of Charlotte; great grandson Ryder Mills of Walterboro and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Tootsie is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Melvin Mills; sisters, Mary Ruth Plott and Dorothy Jean Smith; a brother, L.D. Sisco; daughter-in-law Linda Faulkner Mills and a grandson, Jason Wayne Mills.
Although we will miss her immensely, she is exactly where she wants to be; with the love of her life, in the arms of Jesus.
Funeral services for Tootsie will be held Monday, November 25, 2019 at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte, NC. with a visitation at 11:00 am and service at 12:00 pm, followed by interment at Sharon Memorial Park.
