Rafael Armando Gonzalez

Charlotte, NC-Mr.Gonzalez , 89, of Charlotte died Friday April 18, 2014. Mr. Gonzalez left his native Cuba in 1959 and moved to Charlotte. In Cuba he worked as an English interpreter for American companies. He had the opportunity to travel to the USA and fell in love with Charlotte. For many years in the 1960’s he worked for the Charlotte Police in the Records Department. He is a member of Midwood Baptist Church.

Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his children, Alfredo M. Tomey of San Juan, Puerto Rico; Carlos Morales of Miami, FL; Rafael Antonio Gonzalez of Statesville, NC , Yaletza Morales of Miami, FL , 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His wife,

Leonides M.Gonzalez, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, April 22 at Midwood Baptist Church, 2029 Mecklenburg Ave, Charlotte, with Dr. Garry Baldwin officiating. Entombment will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Road, Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28210.
