Randee Jean (Felber) Gunderson, 72, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024 in Pineville, North Carolina. After a long journey with Alzheimer’s, she transitioned peacefully at The Haven memory care facility.
Born August 19, 1951, in Fairmont, Minnesota, Randee was the daughter of Elizabeth “Betty” Felber (Trembley) and Standley Leo Felber. She grew up in the idyllic small town with her sisters Nancy and Jamee. Randee attended parochial school at Saint John Vianney for her primary and secondary education before heading to Saint Cloud State University for her college years. She then decided to study court reporting in The Twin Cities. It was there that Randee met the love of her life, Donald Eivind Gunderson. Shortly after completing her program, she took a leap of faith and accepted a job in Central Florida, where Don soon followed. It was there that they built a community and had their two daughters. Randee had a 20-year career as a stenographer turned court-reporting teacher. Her passion for teaching, as with all things in life, was evident, and she was named Teacher of the Year at Orlando College.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Randee would describe her as passionate, full of gratitude, energetic, fun, hospitable, accepting, and loving. She was a lifelong learner who had a way with words, which aided in her venture as a proofreader in her golden years. Randee’s yearly holiday letters always demonstrated her talent for writing and storytelling. She prided herself on creating a warm and inviting home and loved to decorate for the seasons. Randee was thrilled to move to North Carolina to spend her senior years with her greatest joy, her family, where she brought along an admiration for the changing leaves in fall. Randee was a proud member of Unity of Charlotte where she was a member in the choir and always ready to lend a helping hand. Her loved ones will remember her laughing, belting her favorite tunes, listening to music, dancing, and doing everything she could to make those around her comfortable. To know her was to love her, as Randee Jean never met a stranger.
Randee was married to her soulmate, Donald Eivind Gunderson, for nearly 50 years. She was also the most wonderful mother and grandmother and was undoubtedly fulfilled in these roles.
Randee comes from a close-knit family and is survived by her two daughters, Kelly Gunderson (Borsum) and Megan Gunderson (Orlando). She has four beloved grandchildren, Ella (19), Amelia (19), Gavin (14), and two-year old Louisa Orlando. Randee’s parents Betty (92) and Stan Felber (96) recently relocated to Orlando, Florida after living in Fairmont for over 90 years. She was always very close with her sisters and the families they built, Nancy Highland (Felber), the late Cory Highland (32), Alyssa Robertson (Mahoney) and Jamee Griffin (Felber), Tony Griffin, Alex Griffin, Betsy Pattillo (Griffin), and their children. Her sons-in-law, Bryan and Griffin were integral members of the family, thanks to Randee’s open arms. She also cherished Fairmont summers on Golden Pond with her large group of extended family and friends. Randee’s sister-in-law, Judy Tills (Ron Tills), and her nephew, Chad (Danielle) Zenk-Tills, live in Minnesota.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Maitland, Florida in honor of Randee on Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 PM. Kindly review details of the event and RSVP using this link:
