Randy Hugh Smith, 71, of Charlotte, passed away on January 17, 2026. Born June 9, 1954 in Richmond County, NC, he was the son of the late Scott and Doris (Barmer) Smith. He married Cindy Kranz on June 28, 1975 in Charlotte.
He attended Richmond County High School and later in life he took some business courses through his employment.
An avid fan of the NFL, Randy enjoyed fishing with his grandson, Kole and doing whatever Kole wanted to do.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Cindy Smith; his son, Robert William Smith; grandson, William "Kole" Smith; sister, Doris Ann Steen; brother, Jerry "Red" Lee Smith; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his sister, Belinda Smith; brothers, Grady Smith, Danny "Tuck" Smith, Bobby Smith and Tom Smith.
A graveside service TBD at a later date; will be held in the mausoleum of Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Condolences may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com
