

Ray Paul Mingus, age 75 of Charlotte, passed away September 6, 2012 at his residence after a lengthy battle with liver cancer. A service to celebrate his life will be at 11:00AM Monday in the chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, Reverends Leland Stephens, Tim Nichols and Morris Little officiating. Visitation will be from 3-5PM Sunday at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Mr. Mingus was born in Charlotte February 9, 1937. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eunice Pope Mingus, two daughters, Sharon Mingus Driver and husband, Anthony of Charlotte and Angela Mingus Williams of Leland, N. C., eight grandchildren, Melissa and Brandon Ballard of Charlotte, Travis and Alanna Williams of Leland, N. C., Mathew David Driver of Charlotte, Kayla Inez Williams, US Marine Corp, Parris Island, S. C., Michael Freeman, US Army, South Korea, two great grandchildren, Jasmine and Dylan Williams, special niece, Lisa Mingus of Charlotte, twin sister, Faye Burgess and husband, Robert Burgess of Concord, N. C., sister, Doris Cato and husband, Clyde Cato of Charlotte, brother Jake Mingus of Charlotte and numerous nieces and nephews. He was retired from Washburn Graphics after 23 years of exemplary service. He was presently employed at USA Security at Allstate Insurance, McCullough Drive in Charlotte for the last l7 years. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jim and Alice Reid Mingus, three brothers, Skinny (Lewis) Mingus formerly of Charlotte, Paul Mingus and James Mingus both of Charlotte and sister, Grace Blaylock Layton of Norwood, NC.
