

Rebecca Leigh Morrison McKenzie“Becky”Becky McKenzie, of Charlotte, won her place in heaven on November 27, 2009 following a battle with ovarian cancer. She passed away peacefully at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. She was born to Muriel “Buddie” Coward Morrison, and Robert “Bob” Lee Morrison, on August 31, 1952. She is preceded in death by her father.She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 38 years, David Alexander McKenzie, her two sons, Robert David McKenzie, (Amanda Zeni McKenzie) and Dustin Scott McKenzie all of Charlotte. Also surviving is her mother, Buddie, sister, Barbara M. Moore (Michael), her sister-in-law, Judy Case, her brother-in-laws, Douglas A. McKenzie (Melody), and Russell S. McKenzie (Rachel), seven nieces and nephews and two great nieces.Becky was a native of Charlotte, who graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1970. Her love of crafts and family guided her life. She was co-owner and operator of BJ Crafts, a family owned business. She continued to teach ceramics and crafts as the Activities Director for Aldersgate Retirement Community. Becky was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. The love of her family and her religious faith shaped her beliefs and her actions. She was a quiet, thoughtful, gentle person who touched the people she met with kindness and love. The family wants to thank the loving caregivers who supported her during her illness, the doctors and nurses at Blumenthal Cancer Center and the Dickson Heart unit at CMC, the 11th Floor staff of Carolinas Medical Center, and the staff at Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. A service to celebrate the life Becky McKenzie will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Harry & Bryant Company, “Chapel in the Oaks”, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, November 30th from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Peace Covenant Fellowship at 5011 Chestnut Knoll Lane, Charlotte, NC 28269 or to Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.Harry & Bryant Company is serving the family.
