Richard Anthony Padgett

Richard Anthony (Tony) Padgett, 56, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 at his home in Charlotte, NC. He was born in Charlotte on October 22, 1966 and was the son of Janice Hamm Whitesell and the late Norward Lee Padgett.

Tony was a graduate of Sarasota High School, Sarasota, Florida and attended Tampa Technical Institute in Tampa, Florida, where he earned a technical degree in telecommunications. After graduating, he spent 25 years in telecommunications, the last 18 of which were with AT&T as a regional engineering manager.

He was a devoted father to his children, Kristin T. Padgett and Alexander J. Padgett, and he is survived by his mother, Janice Whitesell of Charlotte; his sisters, Debbie Padgett Lapenckas (David) and Donna Padgett Wilsen (Kris), both of Sarasota, FL; and Whitney Padgett Lesser of Lincolnton, NC.

Tony attended Providence Road Church of Christ, in Charlotte, where he was warmly loved by the congregation. He was a devoted Christian, an avid golfer, and a huge Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ fan.
