

Our Father who is in Heaven hallowed be your Name, thanking you for receiving our father, Robert Sidney Ennis, Jr., age 94, also known as R.S., into your Kingdom. R.S. was born in Salisbury, NC to Grace and Robert Sidney Ennis, Sr. on October 30, 1920. He was the eldest of two brothers, James and Bill Ennis and one sister, Madeline Ennis Evans, all of whom preceded him in death. R.S. is also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Cook Ennis and daughters, Diane Scruggs Smith and Donna Carol Black; sons-in-law, Eugene Scruggs, Charlie Black and Bud Caskey; Granddaughter, Tatum Black and grandson Jason Scruggs and grandson-in-law, Joe Overcash. R.S. is survived by daughters, Vickie Ennis McClendon and Sheila Ennis Caskey, whom he resided with and who chose to keep him at home to be his caretakers, which was our privilege. Also helping to take care of him, were granddaughters Lisa Overcash, Debbie Gordon and son-in-law, Lewis McClendon. Surviving are 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. R.S. was a truck driver for over 43 years, accident free, for Ryder, where he later retired from in Hagerstown, MD., where he and mother were members at Open Door Church. He loved to cook, was an avid reader who knew something about everything, and loved and enjoyed time with his family. He and mother were always ready to take food to sick family and friends, and to the needy. He was a jokester and referred to his wife and four daughters as his five Queens and himself, the Joker. Funeral services will be Monday, November 10th, 1:00 PM at Northdale Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Dennis Benton. The family will receive one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered through www.forestlawnwest.com.
