He was born the 18th of March, 1935 in Branford, Connecticut to the late John E. Knecht and Elinor Striby Knecht.
Bob served faithfully in the United States Army in the chemical core division. After his honorable discharge, he had a long career as a service technician with Duke Energy for 31 years.
Bob enjoyed golf with his friends and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to read numerous books and was a member of First Baptist Church of Charlotte.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Peggy Anderson Knecht; his daughter, Pamela (Pam) and her husband, John Regeis of Charlotte; their daughters Kayla Finch (Matt) of Greensboro, and Lindsey (John) of Charleston, granddaughter, Sloane Finch and grandson Hayden Finch.
A Gathering of Friends and family will be held 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, on Tuesday, the 3rd of February, 2026 at McEwen Funeral Service at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC, 28208.
Burial will be private at Hill Crest Memorial Gardens.
