Born July 11, 1946 in McHenry, Illinois, he was the son of the late Gerald C. Mayfield and Madeline Michels Mayfield. Upon graduating from McHenry Community High School in 1964, he spent a brief time at Northwestern University before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1967. Bob was a member of the 20th Engineer Brigade and received several awards and citations for meritorious service.
The majority of his remaining career was spent at GE Capital in Minneapolis, MN. While there, he enjoyed the relationship of many long-lasting friends. His persistence led to several awards and recognition among GE leadership, as well as the Fleet Leasing industry. Colleagues describe him as "one of a kind"; "gregarious"; "mentor"; "life of the party" and "outstanding sales". Former clients echoed similar attributes.
Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Hannah Hill Mayfield; two sons, Jason Mayfield of Arlington, VA and Shawn Mayfield (Sara) of Lakeville, MN; and sister, Fran Herdrich (Don) of Tequesta, FL. He was so proud of his grandsons, Logan, Carter and Owen Mayfield.
Bob will be remembered for his big personality, his passion for sports and for his love for family and close friends.
His legacy endures in the lives he touched. Bob will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
