

Mr. Pridgen, age 93, of Charlotte passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.
He was born in Warsaw, North Carolina, September 23, 1918 the son of the late Robert Courtney Pridgen and Sallie Gibbs Pridgen.
Mr. Pridgen served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He graduated from Warsaw High School and attended the Institute of Government at UNC and Central Piedmont furthering his education with an Associate degree in Claims. He retired after a twenty five year career as Sergeant from the State Highway Patrol in September of 1966, and later as a Claims Supervisor after 20 years, from Employers Mutual Companies. Mr. Pridgen attended Commonwealth United Methodist Church and held various offices, most recently, Chairman of Finance. He was a member of the NC Highway Patrol Retired Association and NC Retired Peace Officers Association. He enjoyed golf, bridge, hunting and fishing, but most of all he cherished spending time with his family.
Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Frances H. Pridgen of the home; daughters, Frances P. Lynch and husband Ron of Voorhees, NJ, Sarah P. Rook and husband Jim of Spartanburg, SC, and Courtney P. Maggio and husband Chris, of Waxhaw, NC; granddaughters, Elizabeth R. Epps and husband Mike and Jennifer R. Ridings and husband Josh, both of Spartanburg, SC; and sisters, Sallie P. Anderson, Yanceyville, NC and Martha P. Rogers of Norfolk, VA.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, November 25, 2011 at Commonwealth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Peggy Bridgers Officianting. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Commonwealth UMC, 2434 Commonwealth Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28205.
