Roberto Guzman Suguitan

Born August 19, 1939 in Isabella, Philippines, he was a son of the late Manuel Suguitan and Aurora Guzman Suguitan. After graduating from Cabatuan High School he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of the East.

Bob began his career as an auditor/accountant for the Philippines Central Bank. He became Executive Vice President of a bank in the Philippines. He also was a professor at the University of the East teaching Taxation. After immigrating to the United States, he continued in the banking industry as an auditor for Fannie Mae, and then as Senior Financial analyst for FDIC.

Retiring from his professional life in 1999, the joy of Bob’s life was his family. He loved his wife, Vilma Agustin, whom he married on November 16, 1964. Bob and Vilma loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Europe and Asia. He was a devoted father and grandfather who attended many school and sports activities, cheering at every event. Bob loved to read and was a life-long learner. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, chess and poker. He enjoyed all of these activities with his friends and family, especially with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vilma Agustin Suguitan; three daughters, Vivienne Suguitan Anderson (David) of Charlotte, Maria Rosela Suguitan Donahower (David) of Barcelona, Spain and Mariaelena Suguitan Brigham (Fred) of Charlotte; and 11 grandchildren, Ryann Anderson Dominicis (Vincent), Robert William Anderson (Nicole), Jaret David Anderson (Olivia), John Frederick Brigham Jr, Trent Patrick Brigham, Audrey Ann Donahower, Alexandra Elena Brigham, William Edward Donahower, John David Donahower, Jake Cooper Anderson and Luke Allen Donahower; as well as a brother, Dante Suguitan.

The family will have a prayer service at 6:00 pm Friday, August 11th, 2023 in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210 and will receive friends from 6-8 pm. A Funeral Mass for Bob will be held at 12:30 pm, Saturday, August 12th, 2023 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church – 3635 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28209.
